Transience and Letting go

“Or perhaps, one might notice, forms or shapes,

or lights and colours, forms, Rūpa.

The first fabric of the ego.

One of the five constituents that we call ‘ourselves’:

Form or shape

Sensations

Perceptions or concepts

Mental fabrications

(the active part of the mind: Saṅkhāra)

or simply Awareness.

Perhaps mind is aware of one of these in particular,

and how it is arising and passing,

arising, passing.

And to see this, we need to in fact,

continually let go,

and smile and detach.

Find great joy in not grasping, not holding

To develop this Samādhi the Buddha called ‘anantarika.’

Uninterrupted.

It does not latch to any particular thing, it just sees it passing away.”
