SN III 25.7 Thinking is Changing

Sañcetanā Sutta

 

In Sāvatthi.

 

“Monks,

(1) Thinking about shapes is continually changing,

gone, the moment it arises,

and bound to become different.

 

(2) Thinking about sounds is continually changing,

gone, the moment it arises,

and bound to become different.

 

(3) Thinking about fragrances is continually changing,

gone, the moment it arises,

and bound to become different.

 

(4) Thinking about tastes is continually changing,

gone, the moment it arises,

and bound to become different.

 

(5) Thinking about tangible objects is continually changing,

gone, the moment it arises,

and bound to become different.

 

(6) Thinking about thinking is continually changing,

gone, the moment it arises,

and bound to become different. [1]
