Kimila Sutta
Once the Awakened One was living in Kimbilā’s Bamboo forest.
Then the venerable Kimbilā went to the Awakened One
paid loving respects,
sat beside him
and asked;
“Bhante, what are the causes by which
the True Dhamma does not last long
after the Truth-Finder’s complete extinguishment?” [1]
“That is, Kimbila,
when a Truth-Finder attains complete extinguishment,
monks and nuns, male and female lay practitioners
(1) Live without respect nor consideration
for the Teacher, [2]
(2) Live without respect nor consideration
for the Teaching,
(3) Live without respect nor consideration
for the Community,
(4) Live without respect nor consideration
for the training,
(5) and towards each other also,
they live without respect nor consideration.
These are the causes by which
the True Dhamma does not last long
after the Truth-Finder’s complete extinguishment Kimbila.”
